Model Based Current Sheet Animation

This animation of Jupiter's current sheet based on the Khurana 92 model. The red line is at a fixed System III longitude on Jupiter. The sheet's thickness is exagerated. In a magnetosphere most of the plasma collects in a thin planar region near the magnetic equator. This thin planar region is called the plasma sheet. Electric currents also flow in the plasmas and form a current sheet in the same region.
