Recruitment for staff position in the UCLA Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics

Programmer / Analyst

Serve as network systems manager; manage local area networks (LAN) of computers with OS MS Windows, Sun Solaris, Mac, and Linux; perform network services; plan, build and manage high-performance systems for scientific applications; manage network security; organize the secured access to the LAN from outside; develop and exploit an automated multilevel network backup system; program the network applications; perform network diagnostics and design; participate in the development of the Transpacific Interactive Distance Education (TIDE) project, the distance-learning project between UCLA and Kyoto University in Japan, allowing teachers and students to interact in real time; program scientific applications in high-level languages.

Salary:

$60,570 - 79,860/year
